Im Jahr des 100. Geburtstags wird BMW als Honoured Marque beim Goodwood Festival of Speed 2016 geehrt. Die legendäre Veranstaltung im Süden Englands lockt Jahr für Jahr viele tausend Automobil-Begeisterte aus der ganzen Welt an und wird sich in diesem Jahr speziell dem Autobauer aus München widmen. Als sogenannte Central Feature Marque wird BMW 2016 klar im Mittelpunkt stehen und wir dürfen gespannt sein, was sich die Bayern im Gegenzug einfallen lassen.
Das Goodwood Festival of Speed steht unter dem sportlichen Motto “Full Throttle – The Endless Pursuit of Power” und passt damit bestens zu BMW. Bei der diesjährigen Festival-Skulptur von Gerry Judah sollen der BMW 328 Mille Miglia Roadster, der Brabham-BMW BT52 und der BMW V12 LMR die zentrale Rolle spielen – drei Fahrzeuge, die für große Motorsport-Erfolge stehen und damit entscheidend zum heutigen Image der Marke beigetragen haben.
Mit voller Geschwindigkeit werden die Besucher unter anderem einen BMW 507 Roadster, ein BMW 328 Mille Miglia Touring Coupé und einen BMW 1800 TiSA bestaunen können. Außerdem wird auch BMW Motorrad diverse historische Fahrzeuge nach Goodwood bringen.
Als Aushängeschilder der aktuellen Performance-Möglichkeiten sollen außerdem das BMW M2 Coupé und natürlich der BMW M4 GTS, laut Aussagen der M GmbH nicht weniger als der bisher schnellste straßenzugelassene BMW aller Zeiten, in Goodwood ihre Stärke zeigen.
